#Suarez #Evra PR disaster for #LFC

Kenny Dalglish may be giving Liverpool fans hope on the pitch, but he is a football manager and not a corporate governor. His Directors and “management” team should be guiding him, not letting him make a complete tit of himself and degrade the integrity and values of a great Football Club, by vehemently supporting a player who publicly behaved in a totally inappropriate and prehistoric manner, whilst wearing a Liverpool shirt.

The #Suarez #Evra affair – no apology for 5 days, then a half apology, with a blatant lie – I only said the word once! (verified independently as being said seven times).

Liverpool published a statement that they remain fully supportive of Suárez’s claim that he addressed Evra in “a conciliatory and friendly way”  - whoever signed off that statement should be kicked straight out of any business for lack of common sense, foresight and decency. Guardian article here.

Who is running the PR dept at #LFC? Is it Ian Cotton another ex TV suit or MD Ian Ayre who suggested paying Liverpool and better supported clubs a bigger slice of the overseas TV money and creating a greater divide between the top and bottom of the Premier League.  Go read, digest and understand the collective principles of the Premier League Mr Ayre, then read all the evidence and press about the Suarez affair, understand the #KickItOut campaign, refresh yourself with the Stephen Lawrence case, and then and only then may you begin to understand why you failed in your recent attempt to join the Football Association Council, and why you should take your narrow minded beliefs out of football.

Events over the past few months have demonstrated that poor decisions and bad news will only be repeated with these characters “managing” the Club.

John W Henry and LFC, you deserve a better group of people managing Liverpool Football Club, a Club with a great history and potentially a great future.

Man United v Man City Match Preview Sunday 23 Oct 2011 13:30

The BIG one, one that many of us are relishing, and perhaps the “derby” that United have been waiting for, for too many years! Manchester Champions, United, take on Manchester league leaders, and “noisy neighbours”, but serious challengers to United’s crown, City. Following a disappointing North West derby against Liverpool last Saturday, this Manchester derby should serve up a football feast, plenty of goals to boot, and I expect a bagful of yellow and perhaps a red card or two.

Both teams are unbeaten in the league this season. City leapfrogged United last Saturday when United failed to beat Liverpool and looked like they were simply stopping the rot at Anfield, after 3 successive league defeats there.

City have the best away form, and the equal (with United) best home form in the Premier League. Although United and City have the same points at home and the same goal difference, United have scored more goals at home (22:6) and City have conceded fewer at home (17:1)

Both teams have gone 11 league matches without defeat, but United are on the 19 theme this weekend, 19 titles and 19 successive home victories. Will a 20th successive home victory prove to be pivotal at the end of the season and provide United with their 20th top flight title?

There is hardly a gnat’s eyelash between these two sides and I don’t see that changing too much through the next seven months, maybe this match, so early in the season, will prove to be a title decider?

United’s goal scoring capability has fallen away in their last three league matches, in which they have only scored four goals in total, drawing 1-1 twice.  United were averaging over four goals a game before this; City on the other hand, have scored four goals in each of their last two league matches.

Head to head, City have failed to beat United in their last 6 league meetings, losing five and drawing one. Home advantage, and dropping four points in their last three matches should also work in United’s favour. Rooney will be up for it, following his Montenegro moment of madness and limited opportunity at Anfield. City have the firepower for sure and may score 2 or 3 goals, but I think that United will be swapping places with City in the league come Sunday evening.

Might be worth looking at the goals markets too, I would be surprised to see less than 4 goals scored in this match.  Odds for over 3 goals are 3.00 with Bet365.

Man United home win, correct score 3-2 or even 4-3 …again!!

Best odds for the home win, are currently 2.10 with Bet365  and for the correct score of 3-2 the best odds are 26.00 with William Hill – and for the repeat score of two years ago at Old Trafford, 4-3, the best odds are a massive 151.00 with Blue Square. I will be at the match and will be covering both the above scores.

Liverpool v Norwich Match Preview Saturday 22 Oct 2011 17:30

Following a dip in September, losing two on the trot, Liverpool look to be back on track, with two victories followed by their 1-1 draw at home to United last Saturday.

Norwich started the season with four games without a win, but have now won three of their last four. Both sides are on the up, with Liverpool up to 5th and Norwich 9th, one place above Arsenal.

Liverpool and Norwich last met in the Premiership in 2004/05, Liverpool won both games home and away.  Both teams have won three of their last six and have very similar goal ratios, Liverpool 8:8, and Norwich 8:9.

Liverpool are unbeaten at home with a 7:4 goal ratio, Norwich have only won one of four away games and have the opposite goal ratio away from home – 4:7

The Liverpool v Man United game last weekend was a bit of an anti-climax and did not live up to expectations.  I was disappointed to see Wayne Rooney on the bench, and so were the Liverpool fans, who were desperate to chant “Who’s the Scouser in the wig?”  It seemed that United were content with the point, after 3 consecutive league defeats at Anfield. Liverpool will be delighted to have Steven Gerrard back, who underlined his return with a goal, and Suarez looks more dangerous with each game that passes.

Norwich sunk Swansea within 10 minutes last Saturday, their first goal coming from Anthony Pilkington within one minute, or 49 seconds to be precise.  This was the quickest Premier League goal this season, but Pilkington’s record lasted for only 24 hours, as Robin Van Persie scored his first goal against Sunderlandon Sunday after just 29 seconds!

Norwich are doing pretty well, three wins out of six, two of their defeats were away to Chelsea and United, is better than expected and better than the other Premier new boys. However, they are facing a Liverpool on the rise, and Liverpool should take all three points, but I don’t think they will embarrass Norwich.

Liverpool home win, correct score 2-1

Best odds for the home win, are currently 1.33 with William Hill  and for the correct score of 2-1 the best odds are 13.00 with Bet365
